This fully funded program helps small and medium-sized businesses improve workplace safety with practical, easy-to-follow advice, at no cost to eligible employers.

Since 2013, the program has supported hundreds of Victorian businesses to strengthen their approach to workplace health and safety, with guidance tailored to each workplace.

What is the OHS Essentials Program?

The OHS Essentials Program is a government-funded service available to eligible Victorian employers. Through FindStaff, you can connect with Mas National, an approved provider delivering the program across the state.

Employers receive an independent review from an experienced health and safety professional, along with practical advice to help meet their obligations. All support is confidential, with no reporting back to regulators.

Who is Eligible?

To take part, employers must:

• Be based in Victoria
• Hold a valid WorkCover policy
• Have 60 or fewer employees

Employers who have previously participated can reapply after three years.

What You’ll Receive

Eligible FindStaff employers receive up to eight hours of tailored support, including:

• An initial on-site visit (up to five hours) to review your current health and safety practices
• A practical action plan with clear steps to improve safety
• Guidance material and templates provided at no cost
• Two follow-up visits over nine months to support implementation

For example:

• A scented candle manufacturer improved how flammable chemicals were stored and handled
• A warehouse reduced risks between pedestrians and moving equipment through a traffic management plan
• An engineering business introduced safer operating procedures for machinery
